Day 15 - Attachment to Relationships

Begin with prayer -

"God, I believe that You are searching for me and I open my heart to You today. Please clear away the things that are blocking the door to my heart."

Meditation -

This is a nuanced topic because we are meant to be attached to the people around us. Forming healthy attachments is within our biology and is certainly part of God's plan for each of our lives. To begin discerning where disordered attachments may exist within our relationships, ask yourself these questions. Do we have a lot of anxiety about our relationships with others? Do we use our relationships as a distraction from prayer? Are we often busy with periphery relationships to the detriment of our vocation's demands? An example would be volunteering at church while not taking care of your family's needs. These are all instances of our relationships becoming disordered in some way. Examine your life and relationships closely and try to identify the these disordered attachments. Draw them out of your heart and offer them to God saying, "My happiness lies in You alone."

Gratitude -

Now or in the evening, pause and reflect on one specific thing you are grateful for today, and give thanks to God for this and all the gifts in your life.
